In today’s review, we will talk about a pretty nice and high-quality box mod called NOVA from the Chinese company GeekVape.

The history of GeekVape products is full of various interesting devices, many of which sometimes even become bestsellers. And, although most of the devices from this manufacturer are good atomizers, the guys have recently been trying to release box mods, demonstrating their abilities in this area. It must be said that users treat mods from GeekVape quite positively, without excessive negativity and unfounded criticism. Today’s culprit of the review, the NOVA box mod, has already received a lot of rave reviews, and some even called it the best of 2018. What is so remarkable about it? Let’s find out now.

Packaging and accessories of GeekVape NOVA

You start to be amazed by the quality of the GeekVape product from the moment you get acquainted with the box. Thus, the device falls into the hands of the user in an elegant package, the pattern and color of which on the front side repeats that of the box mod itself. vape devices in australia In addition, a significant part of the box has a soft touch coating, again, like some parts of the NOVA. In addition to the standard inscriptions with the manufacturer’s designation and the name of the mod, there is a brief list of the main features of the device, information about the package and other legal writing about the GeekVape company, as well as all sorts of warning labels, icons and codes, including an originality check. But the delivery set, to put it mildly, is extremely poor, although it is worth considering the fact that, apart from a cable for charging and updating the firmware, by and large, the average box mod does not need anything else.

Appearance and design of GeekVape NOVA

Colors of GeekVape NOVA

NOVA is available for purchase in eight different colors. There are two options for the metal part of the device (silver and gunmetal) and four colors of epoxy resin inserts, the pattern of which, in theory, should not be particularly repeated from mod to mod, giving each copy, albeit not to a significant extent, a unique appearance.

The design of NOVA, I’m not afraid of this word, is magnificent. It is also striking that we have a Chinese product in front of us. The shape of the case is made in a classic style, the most common among box mods a few years ago. Now manufacturers are trying to give their devices ergonomic and streamlined shapes, while before it was enough to carve a box of sorts in a piece of aluminum, insert some kind of board into it and a sales hit was ready. In this case, GeekVape apparently decided to play on the nostalgic feelings of seasoned vapers. NOVA is mostly made of aluminum alloy, diluted on both sides with epoxy resin inserts with a soft touch coating. There are no complaints about the metal processing, the chamfers are removed, everything is polished and coated with anodizing. It looks expensive, that’s for sure. It must be said that the design of the mod is so minimalistic and devoid of anything extraordinary that the eye does not even really catch on, the box is like a box. The only exception is the front control panel, equipped with a neat cutout for the board display, a micro-USB port and aluminum control buttons, also very well processed.

Impressions and conclusions

The GeekVape NOVA box mod NOVA gave me mixed feelings. On the one hand, the device flaunts a magnificent appearance and quality of processing, which begins with the first acquaintance with the box, to which the manufacturer definitely approached with all responsibility. The box mod itself is a kind of demonstration of the capabilities of the Chinese industry and proof that the guys from the Middle Kingdom know how to do it well. Indeed, the device is almost perfectly assembled, pleasant to the touch and feels expensive. You can endlessly sing the praises of the NOVA design, but do not forget about the functionality of the mod, because this is the most important thing in such devices. So, the AS Chip installed here showed itself well in its main modes, demonstrating excellent performance at both high and low powers. The board works great when pressing the “Fire” button, supplies voltage smoothly, copes with any winding without any problems.

On the other hand, it is puzzling that having put so much effort into the appearance of its product, GeekVape could not get rid of perhaps the main “headache” of box mods with such a design – the wobbly lid. Despite the many fairly powerful magnets, this very lid actively walks in different directions when holding the device with a familiar grip, but, it must be said, it does not open spontaneously, and thanks for that. In addition, the ergonomics of the device leaves much to be desired, sharp edges and corners quite unpleasantly dig into the hand, causing considerable discomfort. The last complaint about NOVA can be called excessive complexity in control. Some functions of the board are activated by unusual combinations of buttons, which similarly does not add convenience to the mod.
