Considering how often Eleaf updates their line of devices, it was only a matter of time before they introduced a new version of the legendary Melo atomizer, so here’s the Eleaf Melo 5. Here you will find a completely redesigned design, new replaceable vaporizers on the grid and a childproof and leak-proof system. You can also find this tank in the iStick Rim Kit.

General data and design

Compared to the previous version, the design has undergone quite serious changes. To begin with, it became more aggressive, there are a lot of sharp edges that provide a good grip when turning rotating elements. The bubble glass was equipped with silicone protection, which is very much like an oring. In general, this solution is quite non-standard and creative, but personally I don’t really like the way it looks. Color solutions, as always, are two, there is nothing to be surprised about. Personally, I would choose the variant without bubble glass, so, in my opinion, the tank looks more pleasant.

Delivery set

  • 1 x MELO 5 atomizer
  • 1 x EC-S 0.6ohm vaporizer
  • 1 x EC-M 0.15ohm vaporizer
  • Spare glass (2 ml)
  • Spare parts

For a single atomizer, without a set, the Delivery set is quite standard and does not cause any complaints.

Technical specifications

Eleaf Melo 5

  • Diameter: 28mm (4ml)/26.5mm (2ml)
  • Height: 57.3mm
  • Tank volume: 4/2ml
  • Vaporizers:” EC-S” 0.6ohm Head;” EC-M” 0.15ohm Head
  • Connector: 510

Let’s start in order, from top to bottom. The refill hole is located under the sliding cover of the atomizer. It has a large enough size that you would not have any problems with any spouts or pipettes. Thus, even when using a 2 ml glass, you will not experience any inconvenience.

Below is the atomizer glass, in the bubble version it is covered with silicone rubber bands, which more than once can save the life of your atomizer. As a design solution, in my opinion not very much, but from the technical side it is a great solution.

The atomizer works on interchangeable vaporizers on the EC series mesh, which has been around since the Melo 4. In total there are 5 types of vaporizers, but in the set you will be able to see only 2 of them. One for huge clouds, the other for tight puffs.

  • EC2 0.3ohm Head (30-80W)
  • EC2 0.5ohm Head (30-100W)
  • EC-M15ohm (30-75W) (under clouds)
  • EC-N 0.15ohm (30-70W)
  • EC-S6ohm (15-30W) – for tight puffs

We will come back to the tight tightening, but before that we will pay attention to the system of shutting off the liquid supply. It is regulated by raising or lowering the body relative to the base. A rather non-standard and insanely convenient solution.

The airflow is lower and can be adjusted by turning the adjustment ring. It is worth noting that in addition to the usual long holes, there are several holes for MTL puff, which is best suited for EC-S 0.6ohm vaporizer. However, this was also the case in the previous version of the atomizer and it is the right decision to leave the right technical solutions in place.

Conclusions and impressions

Compared to its predecessor Melo 5 has not much, but still advanced in its technical equipment. First of all, there is a very creative system of blocking the liquid supply, which on the one hand will save you more than once and not twice from the leakage of liquid through the air holes, on the other hand, why not develop a system against vaporizer leaks? It looks like this solution will be waiting in the next version of the atomizer, at least I hope so.

Secondly, the bubble glass is covered with silicone rubbers to increase shock protection. In my opinion, this solution is also quite creative despite the fact that I don’t like the way it looks.

Despite the large size of the atomizer and not so large volume of the atomizer, your inconveniences of autonomy are more than compensated by the fast top filling.

Thus, I would call this atomizer creative, but Eleaf still has a lot to aim for. The atomizer deserves your attention and will definitely gain popularity, simply because it is Melo. It is not expensive and reliable, I remember I still have the first Melo somewhere and it still works without any problems, which speaks of the reliability of the line.
